I Want to Help
February 15, 2017
...For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’
...‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’
Matthew 25: 36-36, 40
Do you have a desire to help people but don't know how? RLCC has many opportunities to serve both inside and outside the Church. Here are just a few ways you can be involved:
-Pray! The ministry of prayer should not be taken lightly. Prayer is never the “least you can do,” but should always be thought of as the most important thing you can do. The Church has consistent prayer needs, as well as special requests that come through each week.
-Cook! Bereavement, illness, loss of job, single parenting...there are so many reasons it would be a blessing to drop off a meal or pick up a bag of groceries.
-Volunteer on a Sunday morning! Making coffee, setting up chairs and teaching Sunday school are just a few of the ways you can volunteer on a Sunday.
-Drive! Have a car and an extra hour? Sometimes we need a Costco run for church supplies or someone in the community who needs to get to a doctors appointment. Driving is a huge help!
-Visit! Host/join a small group or call people (use that Church directory!) and arrange a get together at a coffee shop just to hang out and catch up.
-Donate! Have an old dresser in the garage? A bag of baby clothes? Sometimes we hear of people in need. You wont get a punch card like you do at the usual charity drop-off places, but you will be fulfilling a direct need in the community. We also have a donation box at the back of the Church each Sunday for monetary gifts that go towards the operating costs of the church and community care.
